The fickle finger of fashion

It is amazing to see the number of trends that pop-up then die and re-surface anew a few seasons later. I wish I had a bead for every time “brights” were new for spring, I would have a very very long strand of beads if I pocketed one bead every time jewel tones were new again for fall.

Yes there are definitely trends, there are no denying it otherwise we would not associate bells bottoms with the sixties or platform boots with the seventies. Beads also follow these trends, a lot of time it’s more about how they are assembled, one person’s “frumpy” is a different generation’s “cool” Take cut crystal beads for example, they have swung the cool to frumpy pendulum so many time, and been strung in ways that suggest bohemian “hip” or "granny like" and Mom’s old beaded necklace from the sixties, the garish plastic beads on it were “it” for a time, then thankfully they fell from favor only to be picked up and polished anew by a whole new generation of hipsters.

So let the band play on, I for one will burn my trend forecasts and cast the ashes to the wind. I will wear what I will when I will, Pecklers be dammed! I forecast a season-less look-“personal style”
